South Moravian Innovation Center Trends

日本語 | English

JIC (South Moravian Innovation Center, Jihomoravské inovační centrum) is located in Brno, Czech Republic, and was established in 2003. Earlier this month, President Suga visited JIC, where our company has a liaison office, and exchanged opinions on future cooperation.

The JIC building houses the offices of about 30 startup companies that it supports, and to date, more than 100 startup companies from the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic have received support from the JIC. Flowmon, which is now a product of Progress Software, originally started as a research project at Masaryk University in Brno, and grew and expanded globally with the support of the JIC.

With support from the EU and the South Moravian Regional Government, JIC supports the growth of start-up companies. In the Czech Republic, many companies have been spun out from university research projects and, with the support of incubators like JIC, aim to expand globally.

Leading Startups

Startup companies in various industries, not just in the IT field, are conducting business activities with the support of JIC. Here we will introduce some of the companies that are expected to grow in the future.

MAGMIO develops and provides FPGA cards (programmable board devices) specialized for securities trading. Flowmon’s parent company, INVEA-TECH, split into Flowmon Networks, a developer of Flowmon software, which is an NPMD product, and Netcope Technologies, a developer of high-speed Ethernet card products. MAGMIO, a spin-off of Netcope, develops and provides FPGA cards specialized for securities trading. This enables high-speed transaction processing specialized for securities trading, and is expected to be applied in the financial field in the future.

Wereldo‘s main product is a cloud-based platform that tracks logistics data in real time and helps optimize the transportation process. This platform reduces transportation costs, shortens delivery times, and streamlines inventory management, helping customers make fast and flexible decisions. The company’s system also has a function that suggests transportation routes that minimize environmental impact, placing emphasis on sustainability. It may be one of the options for future logistics management systems that require greater efficiency.

Adbian offers a system that evaluates the overall stability of trees in the form of a safety factor. It performs an overall analysis of the tree based on the shape, dimensions, and material properties of the wood, and evaluates the inclination of the trunk and the volume distribution (asymmetry) of the crown, making it possible to calculate the stability of the tree with a high degree of accuracy. This makes it possible to predict whether a tree can safely exist in a particular location even if it is exposed to statistically predicted strong winds. If it is found that the tree’s stability is insufficient, stabilization measures are proposed in the form of crown reduction pruning. It is expected that this will become a service that will attract attention in the future in terms of avoiding accidents caused by fallen trees.

GINA Software provides software solutions that utilize geographic information systems to support emergency response and crisis management. Founded in 2008, the company plays an important role in areas where rapid decision-making is required, such as emergency medical care, firefighting, police, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief. By sharing real-time location information based on maps, GINA helps emergency response teams instantly understand the situation on the ground and allocate resources efficiently. GINA also provides comprehensive disaster support through a mobile application that enables rapid data sharing and instruction transmission on the ground, and a suite of software that integrates rescue operations and the efficiency of distribution of supplies. It is believed that similar solutions are also required in Japan, where challenges in disaster response have been identified.

In addition to these companies that have their offices in the JIC building, many other companies have established bases in Brno and operate business in neighboring European countries.
